Reuse Opportunities

CELLULAR PHONES

Donate your cellular phones and battery chargers to the Women's Transitional Care Services. Call 785-843-3333 for more information.

Bicycles

Bicycles (any state of disrepair) may be dropped off at the City's Street Maintenance Division, 1120 Haskell Avenue between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Phone: 832-3031

The bicycles are picked up by Lansing State Correctional Facility where they are refurbished and repaired by their inmates. The bikes are then brought back to the City of Lawrence where they are given away through the "Bicycle Helmet Give Away" each year that is sponsored by the Douglas County/Lawrence Fire and Medical Department. The most recent give away (Spring, 2005) was staged at Free State High School and over 100 bicycles were given away to kids.
